Our Story

Olivia Nail Bar is a toxin-free natural nail salon located in the Rheem Valley Shopping Center in Moraga, California (between Home Goods and CVS). The salon was founded by Vanessa Schneider, a Miramonte High School parent. Familiarity with the area and love of the Moraga-Orinda community gave her the inspiration and strength to open Olivia Nail Bar. This upscale nail salon will bring friends, neighbors, and families together to pamper themselves, de-stress from the day, and spend quality time with each other.

Olivia Nail Bar has the look and feel that reflects Vanessa’s experiences through travelling, working, and living.

Vanessa is a mindful meditation practitioner whose journeys have taken her as far as Tibet where she learned and adopted the art of Tibetan meditation. This Zen lifestyle of balance, harmony and relaxation is embraced by Olivia Nail Bar with its relaxing waterfall, and nurturing and energizing decor. In keeping with the Zen ideal, Olivia Nail Bar aims to be as natural and harmless as possible to the environment. Olivia Nail Bar regularly stocks Zoya, CND Vinylux, OPI Infinite Shine, Sparitual, and Butter London, toxin-free natural nail polish lacquers (free of dibutyl phthalate [DBP], Toluene and Formaldehyde).  CND Shellac gel is used for a finish that lasts over two weeks.  This product bonds gently to the nail plate under LED light, and it can be removed without filing or scraping, leaving the nails healthy.  If curing under LED light is a concern, Zoya, CND vinylux, OPI Infinite Shine and Butter London are available for a long wear up to a week.  Beyond toxic-free nail polish lacquers, acetone -free nail polish remover is used in Olivia Nail Bar.  Scrubs and lotions are created in-house with natural ingredients like sea salt, raw shea butter, olive oil, honey, raw sugar, lemon and essential oils without preservatives.

Also, with a background in chemical engineering, she used to work in the labs and refineries, hence, she inherits culture of “safety first” and “do it safely or not at all” and applies it in her own salon. Sanitation is top priority in the Olivia Nail Bar. All tools and equipment are cleaned and sanitized after each client and stored in hospital-grade sanitary pouches. There are seven stationary pedicure sinks sanitized after each client and four stations with Egypt gift shops copper pedicure bowls known in the industry as being both safe and eco-friendly.

Vanessa’s fluency in Vietnamese enables to hire the most experienced, highly-skilled nail technicians, who have spent many years performing mani/pedi services. They will be trained in the Olivia Nail Bar to serve you professionally.

Name, Logo, and Meaning

Olivia is named after fondness for olive trees which grow abundantly on Wagner Ranch Nature Area in Orinda (home of the annual Olive Festival). Like the olive branch, Olivia Nail Bar is committed to a green and natural way of running a business using organic and eco-friendly products. An olive branch is representative of peace and friendship — and Olivia Nail Bar strives to create this same haven of happiness within its own walls and within the community.

The circle of the logo is representative of the concept of Karma. Vanessa and her staff strongly believes that what goes around comes around and carries this spiritual mantra with every customer that enters the salon. Customer happiness is top priority: All technicians have a policy of treating customers the way they would want to be treated to ensure that clients return to Olivia Nail Bar again and again, and become regular visitors.
